From this point there is a magnificent view of the valley of the river Leviy Talgar, Chkalov’s peak, the summit Fizkulturnik and the glaciers Til and Ayak sliding down their slopes.
From this place there is a well-trodden path up the gentle slope, later changing into a zigzag-like way leading to the crest of the moraine. It usually takes 1 hour to get here from the Talgarskiy pass.
After a walk across the talus we approach the tongue of Bogdanovich’s glacier where it’s the best time and place to have lunch as from this place there is a very good view of the further route up the pass (3 810 m) named after Abai.
It is a deep narrow downfall in the rock ridge of the northern crest of the peak of Abai.
The ascent to the pass takes 30 minutes along the path across the talus. From here one can see the icy northern wall of the peak of the Komsomol.
The descent is performed along the Chertovo Ushelye (the Devil’s Gorge) to the valley of the river Malaya Almatinka. The route runs across the stony areas and the glacier named after Abai, first, without a visible path, later along the path leading to the region of Tuyuk-Su.
This gorge is rather a wild place where you can come across a wild goat or a deer. The walk from the pass to Tuyuk-Su takes an hour and a half.
From Tuyuk-Su the tourists will have an automobile drive to the city.
Variants:
An easier version of the tour is: after having seen Bogdanovich’s glacier go back to Chimbulak by the cable way and then to the city by car.
