From the starting point the tourists are taken to the place called the Touyuk-Su Gate in a car along the Maloalmatinsky ravine. This place is six kilometers up the road from the Chimbulak ski-resort. Here, in this narrow gorge is the source of the river Malaya Almatyina. This is the starting point of the walking route which begins along the ground mountain road running past the weather station Manzhylki (3000m) to the moraine of the Touyuk-Su glacier (1 hour and 15 minutes).
Further on the path ascends along the gentle slope between the moraine banks up to the Molodezhny glacier. Here the highest glaciological center of the Kazak republic is situated. The center is meant to take the data for scientific analysis of this natural phenomenon. From this point one can have a stunning view of the fortress-like mountain peaks: The Pioneer, The Teacher, The Mayakovsky, The Igly Toyuk-Su (the Needeles of Touyuk-Su) etc. The ascent is one hour long.
From the glaciological station the track leads to the south along the boundary of the ice covered areas of the peak Molodezhny. The pass to the Touyuk-Su glacier is not difficult and it takes 30 minutes of walking. The ascent along the glacier up to the height of 3600 meters takes 20 minutes. It is a very goods place for taking pictures of the fascinating views of the surrounding ice-covered pyramids of the Locomotive and Pogrebetsky peaks. From here one can easily see the highest point of this mountain district – the peak of Ordzhonikidze.
The descent is performed down by the same route. Variant: the descent may be performed across the glacier to the eastern side, past the peak of Mayakovsky, down the moraine to Manzhilky
